Starting in V9.0.1, Sametime audio/video conferencing and screen-sharing features are available in Google Chrome. The Sametime WebPlayer is a browser plug-in that is required for using Sametime Web Meetings features such as audio/video conferencing, as well as the Screen Share and Screen Capture features in web chats. The instructions in this article apply to both the Connections Cloud and the Sametime On-Premises versions of the WebPlayer.
Limitations:
- The Sametime WebPlayer is supported in Chrome only on Microsoft Windows, and only for the 32-bit version of Chrome. For more information on supported browsers, see the Sametime system requirements.
- The Cloud version of the WebPlayer cannot be installed using the ALLUSERS scope in Windows 10.
Installing the WebPlayer for Google Chrome in Windows
1. Open Google Chrome and join a Sametime web conference.
When you enter the meeting room, a message displays, prompting you to download the WebPlayer extension for Chrome:
2. Click
Download.
A new tab opens and displays the Chrome web store with the "IBM Connections Cloud Meetings" extension:
Note: Although this display says "Connections Cloud" you can also access the on-premises plug-in file.
3. Click
ADD TO CHROME.
4. When prompted to Add "IBM Connections Cloud Meetings"? to your browser, click
Add extension:
The extension is added to Chrome, but now you must return to Sametime to download and install the plug-in.
5. Back in the Sametime meeting room, when you see the message to refresh your meeting, click
Refresh:
6. Now trigger the download by clicking
Start Sharing and then click either
My screen or
File.
This does not share the screen or file; instead it starts the plug-in file's download, and displays the Download and Install Plug-in - Google Chrome dialog box.
7. In the Download and Install Plug-in - Google Chrome dialog box:
a) Wait for the download to complete (the file is 33 MB; when the download is complete, no numbers display below the
setup.exe file name at the bottom of the dialog box).
b) Click the arrow next to the
setup.exe file name, and then click
Open:
8. In the Open File - Security Warning dialog box, click
Run:
9. Work through the installation screens as shown in the following images:
10. Exit the meeting room (click
Leave meeting).
The next time you enter the meeting room, the WebPlayer will be active.
